Who are the West Valley Women Veterans?

Military service creates strong bonds, shared experiences, and a lasting commitment to service. After leaving the military, however, many women veterans struggle to find a community where they feel fully understood.

West Valley Women Veterans, known as WVWV, was created to provide that community.

Who We Are

West Valley Women Veterans is a peer-led community serving women veterans throughout the Greater Phoenix area. We bring women who have served together to build friendships, discover new opportunities, continue serving, and find a renewed sense of belonging beyond military service.

Our members represent different military branches, ranks, generations, and life experiences. Some recently transitioned out of the military, while others have been veterans for decades. What connects us is a shared experience of service and the belief that no woman veteran should have to navigate her next chapter alone.

More Than a Veterans Organization

WVWV is not simply an organization that hosts events. We are building a welcoming community where women veterans can show up as they are.

Members can attend monthly brunches, volunteer in the community, participate in leadership and educational programs, explore Arizona, enjoy wellness and creative activities, and help amplify the stories of women who served.

There is no expectation to attend every event. Whether a member participates once a year or several times each month, she will always have a place in the WVWV community.

Our Six Program Pillars

Everything we do is guided by six program pillars:

Building Connections

We create welcoming opportunities for women veterans to develop genuine friendships and lasting support networks.

Sisters in Service

We bring women veterans together to continue a lifetime of service through volunteer projects and community partnerships.

Shared Experiences

We offer recreational, cultural, creative, and wellness activities that encourage members to try something new and create lasting memories.

Learn & Lead

We provide educational programs, leadership development, professional networking, and civic-engagement opportunities.

Honor & Amplify

We celebrate military service, preserve women veterans’ stories, and increase recognition of their contributions.

Purpose in Action

We help women veterans use their experience, skills, and passions to lead, mentor, advocate, and make a lasting difference.

Together, these pillars create multiple ways for every member to connect with the community.

Who Can Join WVWV?

Membership is free and open to women who have served in the United States Armed Forces, including Active Duty, National Guard, and Reserve components. Women veterans are welcome regardless of branch, rank, era, or length of service.

You do not need to live in the West Valley to participate. Although many WVWV events are held in the Greater Phoenix area, women veterans from communities throughout Arizona are welcome.

West Valley Women Veterans also welcomes participants, volunteers, partners, and supporters of all backgrounds, while our mission, programs, and services remain centered on the experiences and needs of women veterans.

Why Community Matters

Leaving military service should not mean leaving behind connection, purpose, or belonging.

WVWV gives women veterans a place to meet others who understand their experiences without requiring them to explain or minimize that part of their lives. Every brunch, volunteer project, workshop, and shared adventure offers another opportunity for a conversation to become a friendship.

That is what WVWV is ultimately about: creating a community where women veterans feel seen, valued, connected, and empowered to continue making a difference.
