Sisters In Service Projects

Sisters in Service Projects
Continuing our commitment to serve, together.
For many veterans, service is more than something we did in uniform. It remains an important part of who we are.
Sisters in Service Projects brings women veterans together to continue making a difference through volunteerism, community service, civic engagement, and partnerships with organizations serving veterans and our local communities. By serving alongside one another, we strengthen our communities while building friendships, creating shared experiences, and continuing the sense of purpose and teamwork that connected us during military service.
Our Purpose
To continue a life of service while strengthening our communities.
What We Do
We create opportunities for women veterans to serve together and connect with organizations making a difference throughout the Greater Phoenix area.
Opportunities may include:
Community volunteer projects
Veteran service initiatives
Projects in partnership with local nonprofits
Donation and supply drives supporting community needs
Civic engagement and community participation opportunities
Whether you have an hour to give or want to become more involved, there are opportunities to serve throughout the year.
Serving Alongside Our Community
Collaboration allows us to expand our impact while introducing women veterans to organizations and causes throughout our community.
Our members have participated in service opportunities alongside organizations including the Travis Manion Foundation, The Mission Continues, U.S.VETS, Youth For Troops, and other local nonprofit and community partners.
Each partnership gives women veterans another opportunity to connect, contribute, and continue serving beyond the military.
Annual Service Commitments
While new opportunities are added throughout the year, several service projects have become meaningful annual commitments for our community.
February | Women Marines Association Rose Ceremony
Each February, women veterans support the local Women Marines Association Rose Ceremony in recognition of Women Marines Day, honoring the legacy and service of women Marines across generations.
May | Memorial Day Weekend of Service
In May, our community participates in two opportunities centered on remembrance and service:
Belles of Liberty Flag Placement: Women veterans join volunteers in placing flags in honor of those who served.
Dr. Adam McCray Memorial Hike: Members participate in this annual memorial event, coming together through service, remembrance, and community.
December | Wreaths Across America
Each December, women veterans participate in Wreaths Across America, joining communities across the country in remembering and honoring veterans by placing remembrance wreaths.
Serve When You Can
Continuing to serve doesn't have to mean making a major time commitment.
Some women join us for one project a year. Others participate whenever an opportunity fits their schedule. Every contribution matters.
Serve when you can, support the causes that matter to you, and know that every act of service makes a difference.
Partner With Us on a Sisters in Service Project
We are always looking for meaningful ways to serve our community.
Nonprofits, veteran-serving organizations, municipalities, businesses, and community groups are invited to collaborate with West Valley Women Veterans on volunteer and service opportunities.
Partners can get involved by:
Hosting a volunteer project for women veterans
Inviting our members to participate in an existing community service opportunity
Collaborating on a donation or supply drive for a local need
Partnering on a veteran service initiative
Supporting service projects through in-kind donations, supplies, meals, equipment, or other resources
Sponsoring a Sisters in Service project or initiative to help remove barriers to participation and expand our impact
We especially welcome opportunities where our members can work alongside the people and organizations we are supporting, creating meaningful experiences rooted in service and connection.
Let's Serve Together
When you partner with Sisters in Service, you're not only supporting a volunteer project. You're creating opportunities for women veterans to continue serving, build relationships, and make a lasting difference in the communities they call home.
Have a volunteer project, community need, or partnership opportunity that may be a good fit? Contact West Valley Women Veterans and tell us how we can serve.
